For many years I split my time between being a musician (with Wintersleep) and graphic design. Now I concentrate full time on design and illustration.

I am very lucky to live in St. John's, Newfoundland.

Have a look at my portfolio and email me if you have a project in mind – I specialize in illustrations, branding, and graphic design for the craft beer industry -- but can design nearly anything when I put my head to it. I have access to painters, photographers, and illustrators in various styles all over North America as well, so if my style isn't 100% right for your project, I probably know who is and can work as art director/project manager to pull it all together for you.

The biggest news of this past year for me is the launch of my podcast ART DESIGN MUSIC. The first season completed recently with 11 episodes and featured my conversations with visual artists and designers that make work for the music industry. The first season featured star designers Aaron Draplin (Sub Pop, Dinosaur Jr), Paula Scher (John Prine, Cheap Trick), Michelle Holme (Bruce Springsteen, ACDC), Gerard Huerta (ACDC, Boston), METZ drummer Hayden Menzies (Thurston Moore, Blink 182), Cey Adams (Beastie Boys, RUN DMC), Janette Beckman (Sex Pistols, Salt n Pepa), Jay Ryan (Sonic Youth, Fugazi) and Drew Millward (Foo Fighters, Phish) and Chad Vangaalen (Father John Misty, Wolf Parade). It's been one of the most exciting things I've had the opportunity to do, and I hope you'll find time to give it a listen.

Find Art Design Music where ever you get your podcasts. On facebook and instagram @artdesignmusicpodcast -- and the website is www.artdesignmusic.com

This last year has been really exciting with new projects coming from all directions.

The Kubasonics record I designed was nominated for a Juno Award in the Album Packaging category (didn't win). The Ukranian-Newfoundland band let me run wild on the design, where I hand-cut and glued paper making a bunch of illustrations. We then made a set of deluxe editions where I cut paper sheets to make a 3D booklet that was glued on the cover of each gatefold LP jacket. I spent over 400 hours on this project and am so proud of how it turned out. Click on the image below if you'd like to read more about the process making this album artwork. Keep scrolling down for my full portfolio.

I created branding for The Majestic Theatre and it's cafe Theatre Hill, and then designed signs for the 100 year old theatre. The signs were expertly fabricated by Leaman Signs here in St. John's.

I created keyart for the final season of the hit TV show Letterkenny; as well as new album designs for Bahamas, Good Lovelies, Sluice, Evelyn Jess, Jason Collett and a Ron Hynes tribute album among others (with many more that haven't been announced yet). E Street Band sax player Jake Clemons invited me to design some merch for him, starting with a fun t-shirt design, and so so much more.

One of my favourite projects of my last year has been working with CBC's new hit TV show, Son of a Critch. They asked me to create the show's logo, which lead to getting to draw the cast for t-shirts, and I'm currently working on a bunch of other new things that I can't talk about yet -- they're so fun!!! Can't wait to show them off.

album design
Chris Hadfield

Probably the project that garnered the most media attention and general excitement from friends and family was this album illustration and design for Commander Chris Hadfield. The album was recorded in space on the International Space Station. It was a hell of a lot of fun to work on! It was pressed on vinyl as well as CD.

I wrote a blog post about the experience of meeting Chris, and working on the album - check that out by following this link.

tour poster design/illustration

The TV show Letterkenny is one of the funniest productions ever made. I've worked on a couple projects for Letterkenny, this first one being a tour poster when they took the show on the road throughout Canada and the USA to meet fans. The second one was a characature drawing of Squirrely Dan if we were a wrestler -- which tied into a specific episode of the show.

screen print poster series

City and Colour had the idea to make a new poster for every province that he toured to. The first tour we made the posters for would visit 8 provinces, so we made 8 posters. But since then, every time he visits a new province or territory, we add another poster. I've designed 12 so far, only one left! Yukon – Here's looking at you. As soon as City and Colour books a Yukon show we'll finish this series.

I have a couple of these for sale on my store - www.rehearsalsrehearsals.com - but most are long sold out.

my skateboard company

In 2020 I launched the skateboard company Atlantic Aire with my buddy Jon. This project has been an absolute dream come true – we've got skateboards, hats, shirts, stickers and more available. Please check it out if skateboarding is your thing.

I have a couple of these for sale on my store - www.atlanticaire.com.com

book cover design
Jon Dobbin

This horror western novel is a real ride, I loved reading it even more than I loved making this cover. There are monsters in the woods. So much fun!

poster and merch logo design
Said the Whale

Said the Whale are a great band from Vancouver – we've become friends on their trips to Newfoundland and for their recent album they hired me to design a poster, t-shirt, enamel pin, and other merch items.

book covers
Harper Collins

Harper Collins have hired me to design a three book covers recently:

When Canadian icon Mary Walsh wrote her first book earlier this year I was honoured when she asked me to design the cover. I read the book and then started on sketches. This looks really great in person, with spot finish gloss sections that don't show in this photo. Check it out at your local book store and let me know what you think.

The second was for Jeremy Taggart (ex-drummer from Our Lady Peace) and Jonovision celeb Jonathan Torrens, who host a hugely popular podcast, Taggart and Torrens, and felt it was time to turn their brand of humour in to a book.

Evolution Gone Wrong is a hilarious book about why our bodies don't work. Its been published in many countries around the world and translated into numerous languages. I'm really proud to call Harper Collins a client and have had a lot of fun on each of these projects.

package design
Caplanskys/East Coast Glow

Toronto's famous Caplanskys restaurants teamed up with East Coast Glow to make something special. I had a blast drawing and designing the box for this fun spirited mustard flower soap.

tour poster
Tim Baker

Hey Rosetta's Tim Baker organized a cross-Canada tour featuring three singer-songwriter friends of his and himself. This poster illustration depicts all the songwriters taking some much needed time with nature. 18 x 24 versions were sold at the merch table on the tour.

Wolfe Island Music Festival

The top poster design (bear) was awarded an Applied Arts Advertising/Design Award and will be published in their Design Awards Annual. It was the first time I ever submitted anything for these awards and I am so excited to have been given a positive response. And, did I mention that this music festival is always amazing!!! Its a WIN/WIN. I've created their posters for the last nine years.

book covers

A couple book covers I had the opportunity to work on.

Massey Hall

I was pretty excited to be hired by Massey Hall to brand and create posters for their Live at Massey Hall series of shows. This is an ongoing poster series that has evolved in sutble ways over three years. The Timber Timbre poster was the first one, and Rheostatics was from this past season.

album design
Good Lovelies

This album was a lot of fun to work on – I created the cover, plus another illustration for every song. 14 illustrations in all.

CBC Newfoundland & Labrador

To commemorate the 200th anniversary of the St. John's Regatta, CBC radio hired me to create this illustration. A series was printed and given away to listeners. Then, a short time later I was asked to make a new piece to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of On The Go, the hit St. John's based radio show.

album design
The Irish Descedants

When I saw this photo taken by my friend Tom Cochrane I knew it would make an incredible album cover. It feels perfect on this Irish Descendants record.

skateboard painting

I painted this skateboard for a great fundraiser NL Boards were hosting to raise money for our local LGBTQ+ community.

I've been hired to make quite a few Hey Rosetta posters over the years. Some have been screen printed, others were used as tour posters, etc.

album design

This illustration was printed on various items sold in a summer festival kit for City and Colour fans. The kit included water bottles, bags, shirt, laminant, and more.

I've been very lucky to be asked to work on many film posters in recent years:

I drew all of these posters, except Overtime which is based on photography supplied by the filmmakers.

Personal Art-Projects

Over the years I've very rarely had time to make art for myself that wasn't associated with a client. I've been trying to change that and here are three from the last year. The first two are paper cut works – the first made entirely with white or black paper, and the second using coloured papers. I ended up using the second piece as artwork for the bottom of one of my Atlantic Aire skateboards. The third piece is a portrait of my friend April White which I then screen printed and gave to her the day before she moved to Montreal.

t-shirt design
Fortunate Ones

When the Fortunate Ones were heading out on tour they asked me to come up with a new shirt design. This is one of my favourite shirts I've designed over the years.

poster design
Strike A Chord benefit concert

This event had already taken place when I was asked to make a poster for organizers to commemorate the event in their office. I had a lot of fun working on this poster that was only printed twice.

album design

I was asked to draw a dead cowboy being eaten by vultures. Ok. This was super fun and I love how it turned out.

album design

This was the first time I had done any work for a band from Edmonton. They allowed me to play with some custom painted typography – a lot of fun.

tshirt-jacket illustration

A cute two-colour illustration that looked amazing on shirts and track-jackets.

poster/social media art
Blundstone Boots

Blundstones are the most popular boots in St. John's - the company has been in Canada for 25 years and hired me to design a couple posters to celebrate.

logo/branding design

Waterwest is a great new restaurant in St. John's. They hired me to design a logo and let me run wild with it. I'm very happy with how this turned out and having an amazing restaurant only ten minute walk from my house has been incredible.

comic book cover
Nobody Is In Control

This was the dream project that never happened. When Black Mask comics hired me to design a variant cover for the debut issue of Nobody is In Control I was pumped. I read the issue and it was a great tale, coming up with a cover was easy. In the end, no variant issues of the book were ever printed so my cover never saw the light of day. It did apparently end up printed on the back cover of some issue 2 copies. not sure how that ever happened. :^) Hopefully I'll get to design another comic book cover one of these days, I've been collecting comics since I was a kid so it would be the coolest! :^)

cd/lp art

A simple graphic I made to say thank you to a band that has meant so much to Canada and music fans around the world.

album designs

I have designed four Blue Rodeo albums to date - In Our Nature, A Merrie Christmas to You, Live at Massey Hall and their latest record 1000 Arms (photo by Mark Bennett). They also hired me to design solo albums for Greg Keelor and Jim Cuddy. They've been one of the best clients I ever had, really great to work with.

I posted a blog about working with the band and all the projects we've completed so far.

branding and illustrations

Work for TV shows has been so fun!! CBC's hit show Son of a Critch has been keeping me real busy, as has Letterkenny and they're side-show Shoresy, but I also wanted to show off a series of illustrations I made for CBC Gem series FARM CRIME; the logo I designed for The Missus Downstairs which airs on Bell Fibe; and I've been busy making a bunch illustrations and art for Broad Appeal (also CBC Gem). Working on a TV show that could use some fun illustrations or branding? Hit me up.

album cover designs

I've illustrated a drawn a ton of things for Fortunate Ones over the years -- they even let me design a couple of their record covers.

album design
Andrew Pike

Had the most fun working on this album cover. The record is classical music and is really beautiful to listen to.

This poster was part of a series of six. Each one portrayed a city the band were playing that had an NHL team, we used the team colours, the first letter from the city name, and a bunch of smaller references to that city and their team.

I've been hired to create 21 City and Colour posters to date (more than for any other one client) - all except 1 have been screen printed and sold as a merch item as his shows.

I've created over a dozen posters for Blue Rodeo and Jim Cuddy's solo shows, t-shirts designs, and the album-art for their latest three records. Love those guys!

poster design

You a fan of this show? I sure am. Producers had a new poster made for every episode last season - this was mine. I have the best job.

It was fun designing a logo for this very chic new Inn located in Quidi Vidi Village. What a gorgeous spot.

album design

Legendary Canadian punk band Teenage Head teamed up with the last remaining Ramones member, Marky, to make this amazing record.

logo design
St. John's Regional Fire Department

To celebrate their 125th Anniversary, I was asked to redesign the St. John's Regional Fire Department logo.

social media image
Banger Films

Banger Films asked me to draw Gord Downie to celebrate the re-airing of their documentary about The Tragically Hip's final tour on TV.

illustration series
personal project

I started drawing people in my neighbourhood out walking their dogs without them knowing I was doing it. Then, once I started posting these online people started requesting I draw them with their pets and to date I've made nearly 100 of these portraits. Its been a fun project.

Drew/Designed the shipping box for the fine folks at Purolator.

This EP was a collaboration project by a bunch of Newfoundland top acts. The idea was that it was all recorded at home during the early days of the pandemic, so I came up with this cute illustration of a home recording setup.

Poster designs for the 2013 and 2014 Arts and Crafts Fieldtrip Music Festival.

Fortunate Ones are a great young band from Newfoundland. I have illustrated a bunch of posters, albums and t-shirt designs for the band over the years.

branding and poster design
Tell Tale Harbour

Tell Tale Harbour is a musical launched in 2022 about a small Atlantic town about to lose its fishing plant, the main employer in the town. They go through many adventures trying to secure a new french fry plant to replace it. The story is hilarious and fun. I created the typography for their posters by cutting letters out of paper, and added a cute little seagull meant to represent the story's main character, Frank, because what seagull doesn't love french fries!

Click here to watch a short video talking about the making of my branding and art for Tell Tale Harbour.

illustrations + design
The Vinyl Cafe

I was honoured to create a couple album collection sets for Stuart McLean's The Vinyl Cafe.

logo design

I've played the Horseshoe Tavern a bunch of times over the years, and discovered a few of my favourite bands on that stage. in 2017 they asked me to design a t-shirt for their 70th anniversary - they liked this design so much they ended up changing their logo to this. I'm very proud to have designed the logo for one of the country's most famous live music institutions.

screen print

I don't get to work on as many personal projects as I'd like. My father is a life long collector of Newfoundland stamps and I've always loved how they look. I whipped up this illustration modernizing the old stamps to my drawing style and made some 8x10 screen prints for fun. These are for sale over on my online store if you're interested - go to www.rehearsalsrehearsals.com

poster design

This might be my favourite poster I've ever designed. Neil Young was being presented with an award for his 1970 album After the Gold Rush and they asked me to make a poster to commemorate the event. Only 50 copies were printed, Neil was given the first, and the rest sold out in one afternoon online. Thankfully I did manage to snag one for myself.

album art

Another Tim Chaisson album design. This artwork was cut out of paper then composed on the computer. The illustration is meant to represent the Confederation Bridge leading to PEI.

Bonnie "Prince" Billy

Illustrated poster for Bonnie "Prince" Billy concert. Silk screened versions of this poster are in the works.

Burning Hell

The Burning Hell are really good friends of mine and my absolute favourite band. I have also illustrated a bunch of different t-shirts and posters for them, and they even let me design one of their records (Public Library). Love you Burning Hell!

mural art

Something new I've been creating in recent years is large scale murals –– here are two I made for MINI St. John's, and Memorial University. If you have a mural project (indoor or out) that you'd like to chat about, drop me a line at judjudhaynes@gmail.com

beer labels

I've had the opportunity to design more than two dozen different beer labels for Upstreet Craft Brewing so far. This is the most fun ongoing project I've ever had!!! I was also asked to design the branding and labels for Upstreet's side brands, Million Acres" and Flipside. These beers taste great too - its impossible to pick a favourite (but do give Major Tom and Third Place a try, so so so good).

I wrote a Blog post about working on this project if you're interested in more info - its a little out of date now as I wrote this when I was only working with the brewery for a year, but it gives an idea of the excitement.

2016 Poster

2015 Poster series

Winnipeg Folk Festival

I've illustrated posters for the Winnipeg Folk Festival for two years. I wrote a blog post about working on art for this festival and my experience travelling to Winnipeg to check it all out in person.

poster design
Blonde Redhead

When Blonde Redhead were going out to play shows commemorating their monumental Misery Is A Butterfly album I was the most excited human ever to be asked to make the poster for the tour. This is one of my favourite bands, and my favourite album by that band. One of the most important projects I ever worked on to me.

album design
Dan Mangan

When Dan Mangan first released Nice, Nice, Very Nice we didn't know each other - but in the 10 years since we have become friends and I was so excited to be invited to reinterpret the original art for a 10th anniversary vinyl re-issue. I cut the cover out of paper and am very proud to have played a tiny role in the story of this incredible record.

Then, a year or so later he came back to me and asked if I wanted to do it all again, reinterpreting his next record Oh Fortune for a 10th anniversary reissue. I created a series of illustrations losely based on the photos that were featured in the original design. I'm VERY proud of how this album turned out, its one of my favourite I've ever had the chance to work on.

conference illustration
Society of Rural Physicians

There's going to be a huge conference celebrating rural physicians in Halifax, spring 2019. I was hired to create illustrations for use in their marketing leading up to the event.

album art
Jill Barber

Jill Barber's new album is really great - the debut single "Girls Gonna Do" blew up on Canadian airwaves and I was very proud to work on the album design for her.

album art
National Arts Centre

All year I've been working on illustrations for the NAC Presents series, put off by the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. These have been so much fun - there will be three posters in all, two of which are you now, third one is yet to come. :^)

album art
Matt Andersen

Matt Andersen is best known for his crushing live performance so it was only a matter of time until we released a great live album. Recorded at the old Olympic Hall in Halifax, the art deco theatre named after The Titanic's sister ship that use to visit Halifax frequently on trans-Atlantic voyages. I went with a deco album feel and am very happy with how it turned out. Matt has hired me to design t-shirts, screen printed posters, and his live album. Making art for his music has been very exciting.

album art
Arts and Crafts - X

This was Arts and Crafts' 10th Anniversary album featuring the record labels artists collaborating with each other to make new songs (the two sides fo the X twisting together to make the new letter). I created the illustration, but the layout was done by Robyn Kotek, A+C's in house designer (she's very good!).

album art
Matt Mays/July Talk

Matt Mays and July Talk were hitting the road together with The Beaches for some shows. I made this screen print poster to be sold at the bands merch table each night. They sold out pretty quickly, which always feels good.

album art
The Once

The Once are one of the biggest bands in Newfoundland, touring all over the world for the last decade. Their new album takes them sonically in new directions and Phil from the band had an idea to make an album cover illustration depicting a fuguristic St. John's narrows. This was nothing but fun to work on from beginning to end.

I was invited to design a poster for Polaris Music Prize's shortlist nominee Cold Specks. These were screen printed (18 x 24) and are for sale on the Polaris website.

cd/lp art

I've been working with BAHAMAS for years. I worked up the layouts for four of his albums, as well as posters, tshirts, his website, etc.

album design

A fun retro album cover that really pops off the shelves. My mother took this photo in Switzerland back in the late 70s.

album design

TERRA are a local band in my hometown. They poured their heart and soul into making this album and I wanted the artwork to be something special. I went in a different direction than I ever having, using a lot of tape and texture. Its one of my favourite album designs I've ever worked on.

poster print

This was a personal illustration project - these screen printed posters are printed on 18 x 24 smooth 100lb Cougar art stock. Limited Edition of 30 prints. These are now sold out, but the illustration has been printed on t-shirts which are for sale down at Living Planet on Water Street (in St. John's).

cd/lp art

This artwork was cut out of one piece of paper. I came up with the illustration and then had it cut out of one piece of recycled kraft paper. Click enlarge to zoom in and see the paper cuts.

One of the most fun projects I ever worked on. For this box set I designed the box itself, a 150+ page book, patches, posters, stickers, 4 CDs, a DVD, laniards and more. UV coat finished on almost everything. Too fun.

album design

Stu Marchand is a singer/songwriter living in Alberta. This album art is one of my favourite projects I've ever worked on. The custom collage-font on the cover was created from dozens of photos of factories, scaffolding and old barns.

album designs

I was hired by FACTOR to create a pocket guide for musicians to get an idea of what sorts of funding FACTOR had available. I created a character and put her in a narrative of being on tour across Canada throughout the guide.

Eastern Edge Gallery

Every year the Eastern Edge Gallery host a week long arts festival. I made this poster for their carnival themed festival.

screen print tour posters

Super super honoured to be invited to design a series of posters for the Arkells huge cross-Canada arena tour.

installation design
Ron Hynes celebration memorial

I was approached by members of the Ferryland community to create a tribute to Newfoundland's most respected and celebrated songwriter, Ron Hynes, who passed away a few years ago. Ron grew up in Ferryland, Newfoundland. With his family’s blessing, I set out to design a piece that Ron’s fans would appreciate. Ron was a master at his craft, he didn’t add spectacle to get folks to pay attention, he kept his music simple, stunning, smart, and poignant. He was an incredible entertainer, but he did it with raw talent, stories, and wit, not bright bursts of pyro or cheesy glittery outfits.

The Man of A Thousand songs, and Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame member released ten solo albums (and two with The Wonderful Grand Band). His songs have been covered and rerecorded by 100s of artists around the world, especially his hit “Sonny’s Dream”.

Thank you to @leamansigns who expertly built and installed the piece. To Jill Curran (Lighthouse Picnics), The Town of Ferryland, Keith Mooney and the team at the Southern Shore Folk Arts Centre, and of course Ron’s family, for trusting me with the honour of taking this on. If you’d like to check it out for yourself, it’s located just outside the Regional Arts Centre in Ferryland, you can’t miss it. Godspeed, Ron.

branding and labeling

Bannerman Brewing is a hot new craft brewery in St. John's (my home town). I designed their logo and branding and had a ton of fun seeing it all come to life. The client wanted to go ultra clean and minimal, which is a look I haven't traditionally used for beer marketing in the past but the results with Bannerman have been very exciting. All other breweries I work with are based far away from where I live so it has also been incredible to be able to go and sit in the space your designs are being used, sip on a tasty beer, and see how audiences are interacting and reacting with your designs.

t-shirt design

Kelly McMichael's debut album is incredible - like, so so so good. She had an idea for a tshirt of a couple horses running like those old wildlife shirts from the 80s.... this was my first time drawing something like this and I loved how it turned out.

logo design

When I use to tour with Wintersleep my favourite Toronto venue was always Lee's Palace. The legendary venue opened in the 80s and they approached me about a brand refresh -- I'm super proud of this logo and the chance to get to work with a music venue that has meant so much to me over the years.

magazine cover art
NQ - Newfoundland Quarterly

NQ magazine has been publishing monthly for decades - I was honoured to be invited to come up with a cover illustration around the theme "language".

editorial illustration
enroute Magazine

Enroute Magazine were featuring Rick Mercer's suggetions on the best places to visit and eat in St. John's -- they asked me to make a fun map to go with the article.

poster design

I've made two posters for Hayden. The top one was for his 2023 East Coast tour. The second was inspired by his song "Woody", the poster shows Hayden up all night at home while his cat (Woody) is out having adventures with his friends. Eventually Woody looks back and sees the lights are still on at Hayden's place and he rushes home to be reunited with his buddy.f

Click here to check out Hayden's tune "Woody"

poster design

Hayden and his wife host an annual fundraiser for children with exceptionalities and their caregivers. Its an amazing concert series and I've been very proud to offer my services to the cause every year since it's inception in 2014. Find out more about these events at dreamserenade.ca

award/trophy design

First time for everything - I designed a three dimensional trophy for 'thedesigners award' - which is given out once a year to an individual that has helped propel the design industry in Newfoundland to new heights. The trophy has 6 sides, with each letter of the word "design" represented on each side. It balances on one 'point', and the inscription to the winner is on the inside and can only be seen well looking through the award. This was a real challenge and I want to thank Greg Leaman at Leaman Signs for helping figure out how to make it balance properly. He and his team have done a great job manufacturing these each year.

story illustrations
NFB/Mary Walsh

Mary Walsh was commissioned to write a story about her relationship with Canada to help celebrate Canada's 150. I created around 20 illustrations to go with the story.

album design

I've been a huge Sarah Harmer fan since her first album ten years ago and was utterly honoured to be involved in the creation of art for her new album. Available on CD and LP.

beer can designs

I've worked with a bunch of different breweries including Upstreet (PEI), Spindrift (NS), BigRig (ON), and Port Rexton (NL). Beer design is quickly becoming my favourite type of work, so if you work for a brewery... hit me up. :^)

t-shirt design

Created t-shirt art that would represent a festival that showcases 400 Ontario artists.

poster design

A large scale theatrical play toured across Canada to celebrate our 150th year - but with a twist. This play told the REAL story of Canada's history. The good the bad and the ugly. It was very funny, but also very honoest and talked about many parts of our history we like to ignore. I loved it and was proud to create artwork used to market the event as well as in projections during the show.

album art

This WHITEHORSE album artwork was a lot of fun to work on. It was mostly cut out of paper, then scanned in and arranged. I came up with a theme of depicting Luke and Melissa as action stars and showing them in various action poses throughout the artwork and advertising.

album art

The Matinee are a pretty kick ass rock group from Vancouver. The first band from BC I have designed an album for. Great band who seem to be breaking a lot of ground and I bet are going to be huge in short order.

This is a recent screen print poster I made. 16 x 20, five colour screen print of a baby deer, curled up and ready for sleep. I have four colour versions of these for sale where the creme background is white. Email me if you're interested.

album art

A couple album covers I've illustrated and designed for the Dardanelles. Really proud of both of these.

album art

Another illustration I created for an album cover. This one was meant to be silk screened, but there wasn't budget to go that route. It still turned out well.

Trailer Park Boys

The Trailer Park boys have their own fan cruise - a luxury cruise-ship setting sail with actors from the show and 3500 fans from around the world. I made this illustration for use in marketing the cruise.

album art
Ian Foster

Ian Foster is a Newfoundland based singer-songwriter, working on his latest album I tried to tie in aspects from almost every song in to this cover image. Its one of my favourie covers I've had the chance to work on.

exhibit illustration
Royal Ontario Museum

A couple years back a massive blue whale washed up on Newfoundland's west coast. Scientists took the whale to study it and figure out why it died. The bones are now on exhibit at the Royal Ontario Museum, who contacted me and asked if I'd create an illustration of our blue whale to use in advertising to promote the new exhibit.

album design
Harrow Fair

I love Harrow Fair because they want to make all their records look the same. This is such a fun exciting concept for me. We've made two together so far, and when the band make their next one it will look like this, just different colour and photo. Can't wait!

album design
The Heartbroken

The band had a different photo picked out that they were going to use for the cover and this one was meant to go inside the record somewhere, but as soon as I saw it I knew this HAD to be the cover.

Toronto Urban Roots Festival

I have been invited to design screen print posters a couple years in a row for the TURF festival. These were sold at the festivals, and I have copies on my store if you're interested.

You made it to the bottom!
Thank you for viewing, that was a lot. Drop me a line if you have a project you want to chat about. judjudhaynes@gmail.com
